Judge Hatchett Inspires Spelmanites
Georgia's first African-American chief presiding judge of a state court, and former head of the Fulton County Juvenile Court, Judge Glenda Hatchett, will discuss diversity and the law and the importance of education when she speaks at Convocation on Thursday, November 12, at 11 a.m.

Spelman DOT Project Helps Local Women Secure New Contracts
In response to President Obama's initiative to confront challenges facing women and girls, Spelman has partnered with the U.S. Department of Transportation to help women in metropolitan Atlanta gain access to transportation-related opportunities. Information sessions will be held on Saturday, November 14 and 21.

Emaan England, C'2010, was delighted to see her name on the big screen this week when the credits rolled for Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey's new film, "Precious." The senior English major from Atlanta interned for Lee Daniels Entertainment in New York during the summer of 2008, and coordinated post production film screenings, organized focus groups, created survey questions, and analyzed research results for what is now the award-winning, theatrical release starring Mo'Nique and Gabourey Sidibe. England is credited on the film as a development intern.
